Kenra Platinum Thickening Glaze

The same stylist has done my hair since I was 4.  That’s a whole lotta cuts, styles and colors. Oh, and one really, really bad perm when I was 12, but we won’t go there . I did allow one other person to style my hair for my 8th grade dance when my go-to gal was on vacation. How dare she not plan her life around me!?!

Kenra products have been at her work station for as long as I can remember and I’ve purchased many of them to use at home. While other brands have come and gone from the salon shelves, this brand has stood the test of time and doesn’t look to be going away anytime soon.

Swenyway, I went to visit my fab stylist yesterday for a beat-the-heat cut and style.  (In case you’re wondering, we decided to do a lot of length chopping, go for the angle and lengthen out my layers.) She walked away for 10 seconds to take a phone call and, when she came back, there I was perusing the many bottles of products at her workstation. She just laughed. She’s used to my product addiction by now so it came as no surprise when she held one out to me and said “This is new.” I got to be her guinea pig!

The first thing I noticed about the Kenra Platinum Thickening Glaze ($20) is the fabulous scent. It’s fruity and fresh, but not in a Chiquita girl bowl-of-fresh-fruit-on-my-head kind of way. Applied to wet hair, it’s designed to help fine or thin hair look and feel fuller. It’s a 9 on a hold index of 1-25 which puts it just below medium. It’s not at all heavy so hair can still move naturally. It also protects against damage from heat-styling.

My hair was unmanageably thick when I was younger, but thinned out drastically after a significant weight loss. After blow drying, this product had my stylist and I both marveling that we  hadn’t seen my hair look and feel this thick since my pre-weight loss days. It was dramatic. The results were still obvious after flatironing, too.

My style held through the entire day without getting frizzy (a big issue for me) or losing volume. Those are both significant accomplishments on a day with close to 90% humidity. This is a product I will definitely be purchasing for myself very, very soon.
